1. A preacher
from outside the church wrote these words.
2. “People are bored with dead, dry, formal, and
traditional religion.
3. People are
tired of coming to church dry and leaving dry.
4. They are
tired of coming to services depressed and leaving depressed.
5. They are
weary of coming to church empty and leaving empty.
6. The
missing link in traditional Christianity is the Baptism in the Holy Ghost.”
7. According
to this man if we “believe” we can “receive” Holy Spirit baptism.
8. Each day
people make claims about Holy Spirit.
9. We live in
a time when many are confused about the Holy Spirit & HS baptism.
10. In our day
and time some things about the Spirit that are untrue (false).
11. Tonight we
want to look at some Bible facts concerning Holy Spirit baptism.
12. An easy
way to examine these facts is to present them as a contrast.
13. I want to
show how water baptism differed from Holy Spirit baptism.
14. Let’s get
fixed, firmly in our minds, the purpose and the design for each one.
Projector on and cover first
column.
15. Will come back to this column
and contrast it with Holy Spirit baptism.
16. For now let’s keep this material in our minds and see what scripture says about Holy Spirit baptism.
16. As we look at the second side of the chart a few of the items that are listed are repeated. This is
intentional.
17. NEXT
SIDE OF CHART
NOW BOTH CHARTS COMBINED
TO CONTRAST THE 2 BAPTISMS
18. If Paul told the truth it is impossible for both water and Holy Spirit baptism to exist.
19. One of them is definitely gone.
20. Is water baptism the one that has ceased?
21. Is the baptism that is a condition for salvation gone?
22. Has the baptism that joins people to Christ been taken away?
23. Is the baptism that cleanses us from sin gone?
24. Or, is the baptism that was promised to the apostles no longer available?
25. The right answer is clear.
26. Water baptism is still in effect because this has a part in saving men.
27. We can know beyond any doubt that Holy Spirit baptism is gone.
28. The people who make claims about Holy Spirit baptism are being mislead.
29. The one baptism is immersion in water for the forgiveness of sins.
30. Is this what we were baptized for?
31. Is this what we are trying to communicate to others?
